Ken & Liz Stephens

We own a 1969 Mustang Convertible. The car has been in the family since
1970. Ken's dad bought the car in 1970. In 1992 we bought it from him
because he had several Mustangs at that time and was just storing this
one. We thought it would be nice to drive it once in awhile. Last summer
(2005) we put a new engine in it. It has a 351 Windsor. An interesting
fact about the car is that it was originally sold in Hawaii and did
not come with a heater.

“A boy was born just the other day (well actually it was 47 years ago),
came to the world in the usual way. There were planes to catch and bills
to pay…..” that was Ken born in the hectic city of San Francisco. He
moved to Burlingame when he was 5 and lived there the rest of his childhood
years. Ken’s dad bought and restored many Mustangs, while Ken was growing
up.
A few years later, a little girl (Liz) was born in the distant town
of Ukiah. Actually her parents lived in Booneville, but seeing how Booneville
didn’t have a hospital then ( and I believe still doesn’t), her mother
had to travel 30 miles over a dirt road to give birth to her, on Easter
Sunday, no less. Unfortunately, she didn’t live there long, as her parents
moved down to the Bay Area (East Bay) when Liz was only 3. She lived
all over the East Bay, finally settling in Hayward.
In 1985, Liz and Ken met, through a mutual friend. They were friends
for a few years, before starting to date in 1990. Ken said “You make
me dizzy Miss Lizzy, I want to marry you!”. In December of 1992, we
got married. After trying his hand at several different jobs, Ken went
to work for a bathtub and tile refinishing company, where he worked
for about 15 years, before moving to Windsor.
Liz started working for Sprint in 1983, where she still works today.
She has had several different positions at Sprint, the latest one bringing
them to the North Bay.
Liz went back to college after starting work, to finally earn her BS
in electronics and computers, in 2003.
Ken, Liz, and their two cats (Sparky and Spooky) have lived in Windsor
for the last two years. Actually, it’s about two years exactly, as we
moved up here on Thanksgiving 2004. Liz loves to travel, garden and
read. Ken loves music, cars (classics, that is), and drag racing. Actually,
Ken and Liz have both done some drag racing. Ken started back when Fremont
raceway was still around and Liz started a year or so before they got
married. Besides our Mustang and everyday drivers, we have a Ford Torino
and Ford Galaxie that we use when we race.
